Let's not Automate Dysfunction.
Let's fix the misalignments first, then we build.
Michelin-star service starts with clean floors and good housekeeping, before fancy food.
The Problem
'Modern' day organisational charts were designed in 1911. Processes are often unclear and can't be articulated. Filing cabinets messy. Place any automation or AI on top of rusty foundations—it will only amplify existing misalignments.
AI investments fail at mainly 3 specific points:
Thought Experiment
You walk into a Michelin-starred restaurant. The food is incredible—but there's literally sploges of faeces on the floor. What creates more value: improving the already-premium food, or cleaning up that floor?
If you slap on any clever automation or AI before sanitising and making the floor squeaky clean—that's serving foie gras in a cesspit!
My Purpose
I work an intersection that's commonly missed: where human coordination meets data architecture. Encode governance into data layers, making authority flow to the person with context, not the title. PDF policies become system rules. Manual approval gates become automated verification. Hierarchical bottlenecks become distributed intelligence.
The Result
An "Octopus Organization"—neuro-clusters in each arm, sensing and reacting instantly while staying connected to the whole. Purposeful, Empowered, Responsive.
This is not theory—we are doing it already!
How your company can adapt to a complex world: "Become an Octopus Organization" by Jana Werner and Phil Le-Brun (Harvard Business Review, 2025)
Where to Begin?
Two paths, depending on your readiness:
Diagnostic & Pilot
"We're exploring AI but receive conflicting advice"
Decision landscape + readiness assessment + working automations/intelligence solving real problems.
Process Transformation
"We know this needs to work better, but we can't see how"
As-is/to-be workflow redesign with focus on governance clarity & optimisation.
Would you like a 1-hour compatibility scan first?
The Right Moment Matters
We've passed the Peak of Inflated Expectations. You're reading this because you've likely been through the Trough of Disillusionment—where shiny tech met messy reality.
I work on the Slope of Enlightenment: helping organizations who've learned the hard way that foundations matter, build the architecture that makes clever automation and AI investments actually deliver.
If you've hit a wall and are open to honest & pragmatic foundations
→ let's talk.
